Writer's Block: Know by Heart

Most of the time I just can't decipher the lyrics, so I make up nonsense like from Smash Mouth's All Star: "Only shooting stars, bring the moh-ooo-ohhh" instead of "Only shooting stars break the mold," which has, you know, actual words.

I messed up a lot of the lyrics to Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf as well. Instead of this:
"Last night I held Aladdin's lamp
And so I wished that I could stay
Before the thing could answer me
Well, someone came and took the lamp away
I looked around, a lousy candle's all I found"

I thought it was this:
"Last night I had a letter, see
And so I wished that I could stay
Before the thing could answer me
Well, someone frickin' took the lamp away
I looked around, a lousy can was all I found"


Also, my parents mistook a few Elton John songs. In Bennie and the Jets, Mom thought "electric boots" was "electric boobs" and in Daniel, Dad thought "your eyes have died" was "your eyes have eyes." XD

Lol, I always think the "mohair suit" line in "Bennie and the Jets" is, "You know Jesús" (like, pronounced the Spanish way). Well, I always assumed it wasn't that, but it took me a while to figure out what it actually was.
