FIC/POEM: "I'm Not Good With Words" - Sawyer/Sayid (PG)

Title: I'm Not Good With Words
Fandom: Lost
Characters/Pairing: Sawyer/Sayid
Rating: PG
Word Count: 84
Spoilers: None
Summary: A haiku from Sawyer's perspective.
Disclaimer: I don't own Lost. At all.
Author's Notes: For [livejournal.com profile] haldoor, who requested Sawyer/Sayid and poetry, specifically haikus, at [livejournal.com profile] lostsquee's 2009 Luau. I've never written Sawyer/Sayid before and I have no idea where this came from, but I think it turned out alright, and I attribute that to your wonderful prompt, [livejournal.com profile] haldoor! I hope you like it!

I'm not good with words;
It's easier using fists.
But I tried to talk.

Sayid's attention,
That is what I tried to get.
It worked, in a way.

I can tell he's smart.
A different type from me.
That's what intrigues me.

Sayid is the first
to extend an olive branch.
I want to take it.

But I know I can't,
Because deep down I know that
I need to stay smart.

Because Sayid's smart.
A different type from me.
That's what intrigues me.

Poetry I don't get, I wish I did, and I only really vaguely get haiku's, but this makes perfect sense!!! So extra kudos for you :)

Thank you so much! I can't even remember the last time I studied poetry, so I really wasn't sure if this was going to work out at all, but I'm glad you thought so! ♥

Oh holy shite, that's amazing! Perfect haiku, with the proper meter and everything ~ and imparting deep insight into Sawyer's attraction to Sayid. How appropriate, putting haiku in the hands of the island's Word Man.

Brava! Encore!! Do it again!!!

Oh, excellent! Wonderful use of the form, and so simple - perfect for Sawyer - and yet so powerful! Thank you! *hugs*

You're so very welcome! I'm glad I didn't butcher the whole thing! =)

Oh wow, thank you! I wasn't even entirely sure if I could do multiple stanzas with haikus, so I was sort of winging it. I'm really glad you enjoyed this and I'm flattered by your response! =)

Wow.
I am amazed.
Poetry never drew me in much before... but this is fantastic.
You've got some wonderful talent for haiku.

I'm overwhelmed by such a positive response because I'm far from a poet, but I gave this my best shot. Thank you so much!
